JAKARTA-Indonesia hosted Norway’s Minister of International Development, H.E. Åsmund Grøver Aukrust, for a Courtesy Meeting at Manggala Wanabakti. The visit reaffirmed the countries’ long-standing cooperation on climate and forestry.
Both sides announced the fourth phase of the Small Grant Program, designed to fund community-led environmental initiatives, including conservation and ecosystem restoration.
The meeting underscored the Indonesia–Norway partnership under the Result-based Contribution (RBC) scheme, which links financial support to verified emissions reductions.
This cooperation contributes to Indonesia’s FOLU Net Sink 2030 target, where the forestry and land-use sector aims to absorb more emissions than it produces.
Beyond mitigation, the partnership promotes sustainable forest management and local community engagement.
Officials stressed that protecting forests requires collective action from governments, civil society, and local stakeholders.
The renewed collaboration highlights the role of international alliances in tackling climate change and biodiversity loss. (***)
