JAKARTA, Indonesia — Allianz Life Indonesia reported strong growth in its investment-linked insurance business during the first half of 2026, with unit-linked premiums reaching approximately IDR 6.9 trillion, up 10% year over year.

Gert de Rijke, Country Chief Financial Officer of Allianz Life Indonesia, said the performance reflects continued customer confidence in the company’s insurance and financial protection solutions.

“This achievement reflects the continued trust of customers in the protection solutions we provide,” Gert said Monday, September 14, 2026.

Allianz Life said unit-linked insurance remains attractive to customers because it combines life and health protection with long-term financial planning within a single policy.

The company expects demand for unit-linked products to remain positive through the end of 2026.

Allianz Life Expands Distribution and Digital Strategy

To sustain growth, Allianz Life Indonesia plans to strengthen its distribution capabilities and improve how it serves customers through various channels.

The insurer is also focusing on developing products that are aligned with changing consumer needs.

Digital technology and customer education will remain key priorities, particularly in helping policyholders understand the protection benefits and investment risks associated with unit-linked insurance.

Economic Conditions Remain a Key Challenge

Despite the positive performance, Allianz Life continues to monitor several challenges affecting the unit-linked insurance market.

These include economic conditions, consumer purchasing power, financial-market volatility and the level of customer understanding of investment-linked insurance products.

The company also believes that clearer and more transparent regulations can strengthen governance and consumer protection.

According to Allianz Life, stronger transparency and regulatory oversight could ultimately help increase public confidence in the insurance industry.

Indonesia’s Investment-Linked Insurance Market Continues to Grow

Allianz Life’s performance comes as Indonesia’s broader investment-linked insurance market continues to expand.

Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority, known as OJK, reported that investment-linked insurance premiums reached IDR 28.59 trillion in July 2026, representing 21.92% year-over-year growth.

Investment-linked products accounted for approximately 25.65% of total life insurance premium income during the period.

Ogi Prastomiyono, OJK’s Executive Head of Insurance, Guarantee Institutions and Pension Fund Supervision, said the growth indicates that investment-linked insurance still has room to expand in the Indonesian market.

However, he stressed that growth needs to be accompanied by better product quality, suitability with customers’ needs and risk profiles, and greater transparency regarding both insurance benefits and investment risks.

What It Means for Insurance Customers

The strong growth of Allianz Life and the broader investment-linked insurance market highlights continued demand for products that combine insurance protection with investment components.

However, consumers should understand that unit-linked insurance is different from traditional life insurance. Its value can be affected by investment-market performance, while fees, policy terms and insurance coverage can vary between products.

Before purchasing a unit-linked policy, consumers should carefully consider their protection needs, financial goals, ability to pay premiums and tolerance for investment risk.

With the market continuing to grow, customer education and transparency are likely to remain critical issues for the investment-linked insurance industry through the rest of 2026. (*)
